YouTube channel intelligence
Quiet, targeted, precise insight into a YouTube channel.
MindHafen YouTube Copilot reads a channel's own data through official YouTube APIs, keeps every observation tied to its source, and supports editorial decisions without taking them out of human hands.
Status: private development. Not publicly available.
01 — Product
What MindHafen YouTube Copilot is
MindHafen YouTube Copilot is software for understanding and managing a single YouTube channel with discipline. It was built for the MindHafen music project and is currently operated only by its developer, for that channel.
It brings together channel and video metadata, analytics, editorial planning and AI-assisted drafting in one place, so that decisions about titles, descriptions, formats and publishing cadence rest on observed evidence rather than intuition alone.
02 — Architecture
The Intelligence Core
The Intelligence Core is the shared foundation the rest of the system depends on. Its job is to collect provider-reported observations, record where and when each one came from, and make clear what is known, what is missing and what was never observed.
The direction of the architecture is deliberate: Intelligence Core → MCP-first → application integration. The Core defines the contracts; AI agents reach it through the Model Context Protocol; user interfaces come after.
Observations, not guesses
Empty or missing data stays visibly empty. Values are never invented to fill gaps.
Provenance by default
Each observation keeps its source, reporting window and collection time.
03 — Data sources
Official YouTube APIs only
MindHafen YouTube Copilot uses YouTube API Services. Access is granted by the channel owner through Google's standard OAuth consent flow and can be revoked at any time in the owner's Google Account permissions.
- YouTube Data API v3 — channel identity and video metadata such as titles, durations, publication dates and public counters.
- YouTube Analytics API v2 — aggregated channel and video reports, including views, engaged views, watch time, traffic sources, devices and audience retention.
- YouTube Reporting API v1 — discovery of available bulk reports; collection of reach data such as thumbnail impressions is in development.
No scraping, no unofficial endpoints. The Intelligence Core defaults to metrics exactly as YouTube reports them. Exploratory derived scores in the current private build are under review against the YouTube API Services Developer Policies.
04 — Agents
MCP and AI-assisted workflows
The system exposes its domain operations through a Model Context Protocol server, so that AI assistants chosen by the operator can query channel evidence and prepare editorial drafts through narrow, documented tools.
AI is used to summarise evidence and draft proposals: insight notes, Shorts briefs, video packages and metadata suggestions. Output is validated against schemas and the MindHafen brand rules before it is saved, and is always treated as a draft. Generated statements about causes are hypotheses, not findings.
05 — Status
Current and planned capabilities
Some parts are in daily private use; others are being built. They are listed separately so nothing planned reads as released.
| Capability | Status |
|---|---|
| OAuth connection to the operator's own channel, read-only scopes for new authorizations | Private use |
| Channel, video and analytics synchronisation into a local database | Private use |
| Evidence dashboards, retention and traffic-source views | Private use |
| AI-assisted insights and editorial drafts with validation | Private use |
| Local MCP server for AI assistants | Private use |
| Manual metadata edits to the operator's own videos, one confirmed change at a time | Private use |
| Intelligence Core: versioned report registry and provenance-aware storage | In development |
| Reach observations from the YouTube Reporting API | In development |
| Controlled video-management operations with approval gates | Planned |
| Authenticated web application access | Planned |
There is no public sign-up, trial or hosted service at this time.
06 — Oversight
Human control of consequential actions
- Nothing is published, uploaded or promoted automatically.
- Changes on YouTube happen only through an explicit action by the channel owner.
- AI output is a draft until a person reviews and approves it.
- Data synchronisation is started manually, not on a background schedule.
- Access can be revoked by the channel owner through Google at any time.
07 — Origin
MindHafen and ORKAID
MindHafen is an independent music project. MindHafen YouTube Copilot is the software built to run its channel with evidence, and it is developed and operated as an independent project of ORKAID (Mihai-Adrian Mateescu, Seevetal, Germany).
MindHafen YouTube Copilot is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Google LLC or YouTube.
